admissions interviews

Every school requires a “face-to-face” (or video enabled) interview as part of the admissions process. Only a percentage of those that apply to a business school get called for an interview. For top business schools, this percentage can range from vary depending on your GPA and GMAT/GRE score, among other factors. So if you get called to interview, this is great news!

1. what to expect

Each school has a different process for interviews. Most of them will be conducted by one or a combination of an admissions officer, current student and/or alumni. Things to know:

  • They typically range from 30 min - 1 hr

  • The interviewers would have likely read your resume, be ready to discuss any experience listed

Pro-tip: Most schools have an online interview option, but we recommend that, to the extent possible, you travel to the school

2. do your homework

By this point you should have researched the school in detail, and perhaps already visited. Given that all schools have different focuses and values, make sure you think of examples in which you demonstrated these values.

Pro-tip: Use the interview to learn about the school. Don’t just ask basic school questions found on the website. Ask things that will help you assess your fit with this school.

3. JUST be yourself

The best approach in the interview is to be the best version of yourself. This doesn't mean you don't have to prep and just improvise. It means that you should prepare yourself well enough to allow you to relax during the interview and bring your personality.
